I crossed with a lady-rabbit some time ago. She told me the tale of a kind King (no less than king Solomon, according to Jewish tale), wholeheartedly devoted to the happiness of his people. To rule rightly, the king felt he needed above all to keep a composed mind in every situation.
He ordered his master goldsmiths to make him a precious ring he was to wear at all times. Once the ring delivered, he chartered the land's wisest mystics to devise an inscription for it: a script that would encourage him in harsh times and inspire humility when prosperous. The congress of sages sat for years and years. At long last, they produced a simple four-word motto: "This too shall pass".
A beggar myself, maybe this is as much as i keep of the lady-rabbit. More than just sharing this story, she exemplified it by leaping in and out of my life. Should you linger on the churchyard after mess on a sunny Sunday, you may notice the prints of her tender feet still on my heart.
Indeed, then: this too shall pass.
